Plenary 2 / Closing Session Digital sovereignty versus global tech

Overview

The internet and then the web became the first worldwide infrastructure. With the diffusion of cloud computing and Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings, technology has become truly global: no boundaries, ubiquitous availability . But the world was not ready for the digital utopia. The market dominance of Big Tech has fostered inequality, tech -driven geopolitical upheavals have triggered alarm, and regulatory deficiencies have raised questions. What next? How can we foster the cosmopolitan nature of global tech while still maintaining the sovereignty of individuals, companies, and states? All will be discussed in this panel.
